Future 2nd Graders...Say What?!!??

These amazing Firsties only have 2 weeks to spend together as a class. Next, it's on to 2nd grade and MORE awesome learning at St. Mary School. We have had so much fun together as we learned, shared germs (for real!), and grew in our love for the Lord and our understanding of His great call for us in our lives. It has truly been a spectacular year! Thank you for sharing your littles with me each and every day. I am so blessed to have been their teacher. They fill my "cup" with joy!

This next week we will wrap up all of our learning with a review in math, reading, spelling, and phonics. In Science we will finish out our technology project: Animal Reports, and we'll finish our learning on parent/child genetic traits for plants, animals, and humans. We'll share our animal reports with each of you via SEESAW, and I will email a link when we have finished this amazingly fun culminating project! This week will be our last week of guided reading books and centers. You'll begin to see various work (notebooks, journals, etc.) trickle home: Jolly Phonics, Math, Interactive Notebook, Math Journals, Poetry Journals, and Handwriting books. Please praise your child for any work that you see is their BEST; ask them about their learning; ask them to "tell you more" about something you notice; and encourage them to do their very best in all that they do and say! Most students have consumed their supplies, but for those that have not, I will send those home the last week of school(markers, crayon boxes, erasers, etc.). I can guarantee that not one parent will see a glue stick come home!

Parents, could you please do me a favor? Please check at home for ANY books that you may think belong to our classroom library. These are very important for our future first graders, and if you find any, simply ask your child to return them to me directly. Thank you so much for your help!

And finally, if you could please share any insights with me (either via email, phone, or in-person) about any suggestions or "what worked" for you as a parent of a first grader. I welcome all constructive criticism or kudos into our classroom routines and anything that I can clarify for future parents of first graders. I appreciate any time and effort you may spend to "pay-it-forward" regarding this request!

At last, enjoy a few photos from our "Moonscapes" science project. I promise to post more once our school picnic, classroom "red-carpet awards" and final day of school have wrapped up on Friday, June 7th. Please note that after these photos is recap of the final 2 weeks of important school dates!
